Event Series Event Series: Mind, Body and Soil

Join us  for the special series of six weekly virtual sessions that provides practical gardening knowledge while promoting mental and emotional wellbeing.  Follow along with Horticultural Therapy Practitioner, Jessie Zimmerling, as we explore topics such as companion planting, colour theory and emotion in the garden, starting seeds and choosing plants. We will also explore plant needs versus people needs and explore managing change and transition.

Jessie’s love of plants was cultivated at her grandparents’ house, with her grandmother planting the most beautiful flowers and her grandfather growing beans and carrots in his vegetable plot.

Jessie currently runs Root in Nature’s programming for seniors as well as youth with autism spectrum disorder and developmental disabilities. She has completed studies at Algonquin College’s Horticultural Industries program and Mitchell Hewson’s Horticulture as Therapy course. She loves learning, crafting, and creating, and is eager to put her skills and education to work helping out her community and teaching others.

She fosters cats and participates in her local community garden in her free time.
